The weather was perfect for the best total lunar eclipse in Hong Kong in the last 10 years! More than 60 of us came to the party and observed this special event for the first time in our lives. We used the best equipment to ensure that this was as memorable as it could be. We mostly agreed that the best view occurred just after the moon had completely entered the Earth's shadow because the red colour of the moon was most vibrant. In the telescopes, we could also see some blue colour due to scattering of sunlight in the Earth's atmosphere. The best views, however, could be experienced with just the binoculars and the naked eyes.
