Two of the brighest planets, Venus and Jupiter, came very close together to a minimum separation of 0.3 degrees, providing a spectacular show that anyone could enjoy by just looking up. It was easy to see that they were two separate stars this time. However, around the time of the birth of Jesus, there was one night in which they were so close that they were just like one very bright star in the sky. Would this be the star of Bethleham?
