The sun rose today with two unusual dots on it, and the weather could not be better for our observation. One of the dots was Mercury and it moved slowly across the surface of the sun until 8:11am. The other dot was an unusually big sunspot which almost stole the show. The next Mercury transit observable in Hong Kong will occur in 2032.
