Star-Gazing Night - Moon and Comet 17P/Holmes (16-11-2007)
The first star-gazing night of the
new academic year kicked off with the moon and something even
bigger: an exploding comet! We used C8 to observe many landmarks
on the moon, such as craters Aristoteles, Theophilus and Proclus.
We then turned our attention to the Autumn Square and the Pleiades
(M45). The night ended with a surprise when we discovered that
the Comet 17P/Holmes could be observed under urban light pollution. |
