Initially disappointed by the cloud cover over our observation site, the sky gradually cleared up in our short observation of Jupiter and its four Galilean satellites. Using the 12 inch dobsonian telescope, the intricate and richly coloured cloud bands of Jupiter were extraordinarily vivid and beautiful. The famous long-lasting storm, the Great Red Spot, was fantastic as usual. We spent a short time observing M42 the Orion Nebula before the clouds returned. Hopefully, we could soon have another chance to enjoy the famous nebula under a darker sky with an UHC filter.
