Star-Gazing Night - Moon, Saturn and Winter Constellations
(26-1-2007)
Light pollution and haze did not stop us from enjoying
the wonders of the universe at the rooftop of our school. We used
C11 to observe many features on the first quarter moon, such as
Alpine Valley, Triesnecker and Ptolemaeus crater, etc. We then
turned our attention to the WinterTriangle, the Orion constellation,
M42 and Sigma Orionis. Saturn and its satellites rose above the
surrounding buildings later in the evening, bringing a climax
to a night of many unforgettable sights. |
